# Documents and signing

Send the write-up for signature and review its signing progress.

Use **Documents** on the deal page to send the write-up for electronic signature and track who has signed. **Autopilot Sign** lets the customer review and sign the document through a secure email link, while the salesperson and manager can record their signatures from the deal page when requested.

## Open the deal’s documents

Open a deal, then select **Documents** in the left-hand navigation. The **Deal documents** list brings together the write-up and its signing requests.

The actions available depend on your access and the request’s status.

## Send the write-up for signature

1. Review the deal’s details before sending its write-up.
2. In **Documents**, select **Send document** for the write-up.
3. Under **Send to**, choose **Purchaser**, or **Joint purchaser** when that option is available.
4. Check the **Delivery email**. This address is used for this document only; changing it here does not change the email saved on the deal.
5. If needed, use **Also request signatures from** to include the salesperson or a manager, where available.
6. Select **Send document**.

Return to the document list to review the request and its signature progress.

### What the customer receives

The customer receives an email with a **Review document** link. They open the link, confirm their email address and request a six-digit verification code before viewing the document. They can then review and electronically sign it.

## Review signing progress

Each request shows its status and signer information. Review who has signed and which signatures are still outstanding.

Where available, use **Signed copy** to open the signed document.

## Sign as a salesperson or manager

When a request includes a salesperson or manager signature, an authorised signer can record it from **Documents** on the deal page.

1. Find the signing request in the document list.
2. Select **Sign as salesperson** or **Sign as manager**, whichever is available for your role.
3. Review the document and complete the signing form to record your signature.
4. Return to the request to check its updated signature progress.

A request can include the salesperson, manager, or both. Your available signing actions depend on the signatures requested, your access and whether your signature is still outstanding.

## Resend or cancel a request

Use **Resend** to send the customer a fresh signing link for the same document request. This is available for an active request awaiting the customer’s signature, to accounts that can manage signing requests.

**Cancel** stops an active signing request. It cancels that request, rather than cancelling the deal itself.

For how the customer-signature check fits into moving a draft forward, see [Understanding draft deals](/docs/understanding-draft-deals).
