# Find and filter deals

Choose a period and find the deals you need in the Sales log.

Use the **Sales log** to find the deals you need by choosing a period, searching and applying filters. You can filter from the table controls or from a specific column.

Filters narrow the list you are viewing. They do not change the information or dates saved on a deal.

## Choose a period and date basis

Open the **Sales log** through the **workspace navigation**, or open the **Command Center** using the Autopilot button in the bottom-right corner, search for **Sales log** and select it.

Use the period selector at the top of the page to choose the dates you want to review. Then check **Date basis**: this decides which date places a deal in the selected period.

- **Estimated delivery date:** review what is expected to go out. Open deals use their estimated delivery date; delivered deals use their actual delivered date.
- **Draft date:** review deals written up during the period, regardless of when they are invoiced or delivered.

Choose the date basis that matches the question you are asking before narrowing the table further.

## Review carry-over and unscheduled deals

The estimated delivery view also keeps open work visible outside the main month rows:

**Carry-over deals** were written up before the selected month and were still open at the start of that month. Look for the amber bar on the left and the **Carry over** heading.

```sales-log-example
```

**Unscheduled deals** have no actual or estimated delivery date, so they cannot be placed in a delivery month. Look for the red bar, pink row and **Unscheduled deals** heading.

If a deal is not where you expect it, check these sections as well as the selected period and date basis.

## Search for a deal

Select the search icon in the table controls and enter text in **Search deals...**. You can search by any of these details:

| Details | Searchable values |
| --- | --- |
| Customer | Name, company, customer number, mobile number, joint purchaser name |
| Deal | Deal number, salesperson name, order number, SIDO number |
| Vehicle | Make, model, variant, colour, stock number, VIN / chassis number, registration number |
| Finance | Finance company |

You can enter all or part of a value. Search is not case-sensitive, so uppercase and lowercase letters match the same way.

Search works alongside your existing filters. If you have already filtered the list, the search narrows those results further.

Clear the search using its close button, or press **Escape** while in the search field.

## Filter from the table controls

1. Select **Filter** in the table controls.
2. Choose the field you want to filter. Use **Search filters…** if you need to find it in the list.
3. Choose the condition and value for that field. The available controls depend on whether it contains text, numbers, dates or a list of values.
4. Add another filter if you need to narrow the results further.

For example, filter by a salesperson to focus on their deals, then add a department filter to narrow that list.

The number beside **Filter** shows how many filters are active. Review **Active filters** in the menu to check what is affecting the results.

## Filter by a column’s values

If you are already looking at the column you need, use its menu to filter directly:

1. Open the column heading’s menu.
2. Select **Filter by value**. If that column already has a value filter, select **Edit filter**.
3. Select the values you want to include. Use **Search values…** to find a value in a longer list.
4. Select **Apply**.

Use **Select all** or **Unselect all** when working with several values. Use **Clear** in the value picker to remove that column’s value filter.

Both filtering methods work on the same table, so check your other active filters if the results are narrower than expected.

## Sort or group the results

Filtering chooses which deals appear. Sorting changes their order; grouping organises them into sections.

Use the column menu’s **Sort ascending** or **Sort descending** options to change the order. Use **Clear sort** to remove that sort.

Where available, select **Group by this column** to organise the results by that field. Select **Clear grouping** to return to an ungrouped list.

See [Customise your Sales log](/docs/sales-log-columns-and-saved-views) for columns and saved views.

## Clear filters or find a missing deal

Open **Filter** and select **Clear all** to remove the active field filters. Clear any search text separately.

If a deal is still missing, check the selected period, **Date basis**, sales channel and saved view, as well as any active alert filtering. Your access also determines which deals you can see.

When you find the deal, select its **customer name** or **deal number** to open the [deal page](/docs/deal-page-overview).
